Bro's Live BLog of Giants Rangers

And I was watching that game. This one, I wasn't, but I saw on MLB.com the single worst bullpen performance in history. Derek Holland lost himself on the big stage, walking 4 and walking in 2, and then his relievers let up rockets to every field. The Giants did what the Rangers are accustomed to doing-tacking on. In Game 3, the Rangers will try to reverse that. But with all the incredible negative energy from their 8th inning implosion, they'll have a tough job to do. Also, the Rangers bullpen has been truly awful this postseason, allowing monumental rallies twice this postseason in critical games. Look to Colby Lewis. He'll have to pitch until the eighth to make sure this doesn't happen again, because the ninth will be the unbeatable Feliz, no matter what.

GAME RECAP
A lovely outing by Matt Cain. Pop ups, ground outs, strike outs, you name it, he had it all. That is the mark of a truly good pitcher. As for Wilson, he pitched as well as I expected. He was a warrior, and none of this 2-0 hole is his fault. He did his part. El Rangers, offense, por favor?

Can the Rangers bounce back? Andrus up, the sparkplug, the table setter, let's see what he can do from this 1-1 count. Andrus can't get on, now we see Michael Young, and with a shot of power, he could tie this. And Young is on, with a single. Can Hamilton send one into orbit? He could, but will he? There are crossed fingers and prayers in Arlington right now. Ross cannot make the catch, but Hamilton is on board. What a great rally by the Rangers. They are fighters. And they never panic. Wild pitch! Runners move up! This is their chance to capitalize. Nelson Cruz can further endear himself to the hearts of those Texans. STRIKE OUT! And can Kinsler do it again?
Shows bunt, inexplicably. Nearly a strike. And...a rip by Kinsler and he misses. And he pops up! Ross does it! A easy pop up! Completed, and now we go to the bottom of the sixth.

END OF HALF OF SIXTH INNING
END OF LIVE BLOG
THANKS EVERYONE

Here we are for the 5th inning as night falls on San Francisco. Cain pitches to Ian Kinsler. And a nice looping slider to the outside corner, the count is 0-1. Uribe chases after a foul that is down the third base line, but it's a foul, Juan. And off the very top edge of the wall, and Kinsler missed his homer but got himself into second base in time. And Murphy takes a strike. Now there is a ball outside. And Murphy to short in the air, Renteria plants himself and catches it, and there is no advance for Kinsler. Here comes Matt Treanor. A nice, moving pitch, that ducked just under Treanor's swing. The 0-1 pitch to Matt Treanor. Foul, 0-2, this crowd wants a strike out. They are loud in San Francisco. And a ground ball to Renteria, throw to Huff, gets Treanor, two down in the top of the 5th. And they'll intentionally walk Moreland in an effort to get CJ Wilson out. Cliff Lee made them pay with his bat last night. Can CJ Wilson? Now, we'll see Wilson as Moreland takes first base. Wilson too Huff, we are done with the first half. Scoreless.

Wilson, having failed to deliver with two men on last half inning, comes to the mound to make the Giants pay. Juan Uribe is up to face Wilson's America-spanning breaking ball and good, controlled fastball. 29 year old Wilson deals, a chasing swing from Uribe. 1-1 to Uribe now. And chases one of those Wilson breaking balls inside. Uribe strikes out, goes around, third strikeout for CJ Wilson, that number from FOX broadcast. Renteria slams one into left, and it's gone! Wilson implodes finally, what a hit by Renteria, that one lights San Fran on fire! 1-0 GIANTS! Now, Andrus retires the batter. Two out. And now Wilson Torres. 2-1. Andrus catches a liner. 3 out.

Michael Young ground out to Edgar Renteria.
Josh Hamilton fly out to Andres Torres.
Nelson Cruz strikeout looking.

END HALF 4TH INNING

Buster Posey strikes out swinging.
Pat Burrell walked.
Cody Ross fly out to Josh Hamilton.
Aubrey Huff lined out to Nelson Cruz.

Here is the 3rd inning in San Francisco. Here we are, and a 3-1 on Matt Treanor from Matt Cain. And another pop up, to Torres, who conflicts with Ross, and he makes a catch. One down. Here comes Mitch Moreland, postseason hero, and he hits it into right field, a solid hit, and here comes the Texas offense. CJ Wilson steps up. And...he's bunting, and it's into the air. He's lucky it went too far out of reach of Aubrey Huff near the Rangers dugout. And a nice bunt down the first base line, Huff tags Wilson and Wilson does his job, Moreland to second, and they're in much the same position the Giants were last inning. How will Cain react to this same kind of jam. Two quality pitches, a good breaking ball outside and a good fastball. It's 0-2 on Elvis the Shortstop, not the legend singer. Cain sets, the 0-2, and a ball outside. 2-2 now on Elvis Andrus, being patient, waiting for something that suits him. Cain...oh, nearly a strikeout on the outside. That looked like a bonafide strikeout pitch, but not this time. 3-2 here in the third. Torres in center gets the fly from Andrus, and the inning is over. CJ is about to take the mound for the third time today.

END FIRST HALF OF THE THIRD INNING

Back! Wilson faces Renteria now, and it's 8:41. 0-1. Shows bunt, but it settles in there, 0-2. Now 1-2. A fail breaking ball again from Wilson. 2-2. And ridiculously close, 3-2 for Renteria. And a hit into center rouses the crowd, but Hamilton easily handles it. Now Cain. A nice moving fastball inside onto Cain. And a rocket up the middle, and Andrus cannot make the play as it goes right past his glove on a tough, tough play. He can't make it, and now we see Torres again. He is o for 1. Now...a first pitch swing, and into the gap, but Cruz hustles over and gets to it. Cain stays at first. Now 2-0 on Sanchez. Ground to the shortstop. Andrus sends it to second to retire Cain, who gets ready to take the mound.

END THIRD INNING.

Here comes the second inning. Ball one to Nelson Cruz. Cain follows with a nasty, low changeup and gets Cruz swinging. And at 91, Cain somehow sneaks a fastball by the rip of Nelson Cruz. 1-2 on Nelson Cruz, the power hitter. And Nelson Cruz goes around on another beauty of a breaking ball outside. Cain records his first strikeout of a night, and it won't be his last. Expect lots of strikeouts tonight from both sides. And he pours in a strike to Ian Kinsler, the second baseman who made an excellent play earlier. And a deep fly ball to Cody Ross, and it has no chance of going out, but Ross makes a nice play close up against the wall. Strike one to the left fielder David Murphy. 1-1 now. Too Sanchez, the second baseman, and he easily pulls of the routine play. CJ Wilson is coming out again.
END FIRST HALF OF SECOND INNING
We're back from Boston, Massachusetts, broadcasting about events in San Francisco. It's 8:19.
Stikre one to Pat Burrell at 91. 0-1 to Burrell. Another fail breaking ball inside from Burrell. And a strikeout looking from Wilson, his first strikeout, the second overall for both starting pitchers tonight. Now Cody Ross, the hero, the David Ortiz of the West Coast, all that...
It's 1-1 on him. And 3-1 now, Ross will look to swing. And a drive! A double into left, one of those "I cannot be caught" balls that infuriates fans whenever Jonathan Paplebon is on the mound. Huff on as there is the first Giant threat tonight. This place is really erupting, a very excited crowd here. 2-0 on Huff, as Wilson winds...
That slider was no fail, a beauty on the outside corner that spanned what seemed like North America. All the way across the strike zone. And Huff grounds to Kinsler. He does his job, moves Cody to first, and Juan Uribe is up. Another America-spanning breaking ball from Wilson. 2-1 now on Uribe. A drive to Hamilton. Easy play, and the inning is done. Very efficient work from the pitching so far.

END SECOND INNING

NOTE SOME, BUT NOT MUCH AND NO REALY COPIES OF PHRASES, COMMENTARY IS COURTESY OF FOX

Here we go again, in the foggy San Francisco. It looks wet and gloomy out there, but the orange in the stands is more fiery than my own hair because it has more passion (hard to believe). These Giants fans love this team, and they'll give 100% to it, and this should be a wonderful game.
A couple of F-18 Fighter Jets do their flyover. Actually, I am not sure that they are F-18s, because they might be Harrier Jets, but those are British jets. Hopefully they are British!
Here is the Texas starting nine for tonight:
Elvis Andrus
Micahel Young
Josh Hamilton
Nelson Cruz
Ian Kinsler
David Murphy
Matt Treanor
Mitch Moreland
CJ Wilson

INNING ONE
Here comes Matt Cain, as FOX points out on 8 days rest. That is a ton of rest. The first pitch was a ball, but the second is a 91 MPH fastball, poured in right to the bottom of the road. And Andrus hits a high one into center, and it's reeled in by Andrus Torres. Michael Young steps in with one out. Ball one. Another pop up, and a reasonably good pitch to hit is lofted to Renteria. He has a bit of trouble with that classic San Francisco wind, but he makes the play. And the big man Hamilton comes up. A beauty of a curveball is in there. Now 1-2 on Hamilton. Pop up for Uribe, and this is wonderful for the Giants. Three straight fly balls from Matt Cain, and thats the way to get started.

SECOND HALF OF INNING ONE
GIANTS LINEUP
Andres Torres
Freddy Sanchez
Buster Posey
Pat Burrell
Cody Ross
Aubrey Huff
Juan Uribe
Edgar Renteria
Matt Cain

Joe Montana announced that lineup, by the way. CJ Wilson takes the mound, pitching to 32- year-old Andres Torres. And a 91 fastball to the outside corner, that is exactly how Wilson wants to start. And then a fail breaking ball inside, near the feet of Torres. 1 and 1, he'll have to control his breaking ball, because it is 2-1 with another fail breaking ball. And a ground ball to Elvis Andrus, who throws along over to first. Now to Freddy Sanchez with one out. 1-0 with a low fastball, and breaking ball that makes 2-0. A beauty of a cutter inside and low to make it 2-1. 2-2 with another 92 mile per hour fastball. And a beauty from Kinsler! What a play. Slipping and sliding in the hole, he grabs the ball, showing fantastic range. A strong throw to Moreland, and good catch from him, makes it two outs. Thats a lovely play by Ian Kinsler. Here comes Posey. 1-2, nearly strikes out, but manages a slicing foul off that nice breaking ball. Another one, and Wilson is effectively using his breaking ball and change up with 2 strikes on Posey. Again, the 1-2. A slicing swing, and Nelson Cruz makes the play in a conflict with Ian Kinsler on a pop out. A good first inning, all around.

FIRST INNING END FROM SAN FRANCISCO
