The Boston Red Sox have shown some interest in Rod Barajas, the 35-year-old catcher who split time between the Dodgers and Mets in 2010. His time with both teams featured him showing some considerable power. His slugging percentage was an excellent .447, but he had both a woeful .240 batting average and a fear-inducing .284 OBP. Barajas is an aging catcher that provides solid power and excellent defense. He could be a suitable backup catcher for Saltalamachia this year, as Victor Martinez is a Detroit Tiger.
