After an abysmal first quarter, the Celtics got even worse in the second quarter. It didn't get any better in the second quarter. Then, late in the second quarter, Delonte West drove past a defender for a left-handed layup, but spilled hard to the ground, absorbing the impact with his right wrist, which buckled on impact. West immediately grabbed at the right wrist while writhing on the floor in pain. After the Celtics committed a foul to stop play, West was attended to by trainer Ed Lacerte as teammates gathered around him.

West missed the first 10 games of the season due to suspension and will likely endure a lengthy absence due to the wrist injury, though the team announced no immediate timetable. West broke the same wrist in January of 2009 and missed 16 games -- and nearly two months of activity -- as a member of the Cleveland Cavaliers.
