Here we go again! Round two of the Heat Celtics matchups. Are they a rivalry yet? Leave comments for you think about the Celtics Heat "rivalry", or your opinion on whether or not this is a rivalry yet. Anyway, the Celtics beat the Heat last night in Miami, a real statement. It's a big statement because the game was played at American Airlines Arena in Miami. It sends a message to all of the fans and players/coaches of the Heat. The Celtics say, "We are the best, and we want everyone to know". The Celtics new "Big Four" dominated the Heats "Big Three" last night by a score of 112-107. Huge win for the Celtics, for now they have an eastern conference best 7-2 record, and are already a contender for the #1 spot in the East. But, the season is still early...
Last nights win was because of many players. The best player on the court was Ray Allen, with 35 points, and all coming at a perfect time. He sealed the win with free throws with seven seconds remaining. Also, he was a perfect 7-7 from beyond the three-point arc, until missing his two final threes midway through the fourth quarter. Overall, he shot 13-23 (7-9 from downtown) for 35 points. Oh, and it wasn’t just his stellar shooting that shined in this game. We can’t forget to mention that he was guarding Dwyane Wade. He was locked down and limited to only eight points on 2-of-12 shooting. In two games against Wade and the Heat, Allen has now scored 55 points to Wade’s 21.
Ray wasn't the only scoring sensation last night. Paul Pierce had his own 25 points, and played stellar defense the whole game. However, he was the only Celtic who played that night who didn't secure a rebound. But, he was again the solid player as we know him. He is clutch, a great shooter, a very motivational player, works hard, and has been the best TRUE Celtic the past 7 or so years. Just remember, not many teams CAN HANDLE THE TRUTH!!!
Again, Rondo racked up his usuall 16 assists. It's really becoming something we see on a nightly basis (and is one of the reasons being a Celtic fan right now is completely AWESOME). DID YOU KNOW??? In his first seven games of the season, Rajon Rondo shot exactly 50 percent from the field- (34-of-68), 3-point range (2-of-4) and the free-throw line (8-of-16). He is really outplaying everyone right now. 15 assists through the first nine games? WOW! Simply Amazing. Anyway, along with his 15 assists, he grabbed 3 rebounds, dropped 8 points (3-8 from the field, 2-4 from the free throw line), and had 2 more steals. Oh, and did you see Rondo's dunk last night? Pretty sweet-
Little Guy Strikes Back!!
KG is a whole different story. He is averaging a solid 15 points and 10.6 rebounds a game. With the way he's playing right now, he is 28 years old. He is just playing more agressively, and is way more athletic. Even though he has had trouble with his knee. He got yet another double double in this game, recording 16 points and 13 well-fought rebounds.
Box Score-
Team------------1---2---3---4-----TOT.
Boston Celtics -27- 34- 27- 24-- 112
Miami Heat ----20- 26- 32- 29-- 107
Game Notes
Ray Allen scored a Celtics-season-high 35 points on 13-of-23 shooting.
Allen began the game shooting 7-of-7 from downtown.
Paul Pierce, who scored 25 points, was the only Celtic starter not to grab a single rebound.
Kevin Garnett, on the other hand, continued his rebounding run with a game-high 13 rebounds.
Allen dominated Wade again and limited the All-Star guard to only eight points, one rebound and three assists on 2-of-12 shooting.
Glen Davis grabbed nine rebounds off the bench for Boston.
Rajon Rondo's 16 assists were only two shy of Miami's team total of 18.
The Celtics, considered to be the older and slower team, outscored the Heat 19-10 in fast break points.
Boston committed only 12 total turnovers.
I think its already a rivalry. Boston and Cleveland were rivals when lebron was w/ them, so i think it has carried to the heat. also, the two teams are #1 contenders for the Eastern Conference.
