Some ask if we have already seen the best match of the 2011 Australian Open. I tend to agree with that question.
David Nalbandian and Lleyton Hewitt played their match until almost midnight (Aussie time) and spent it all hitting serves, forehands, and backhands in an all-out battle of the Aussie favorite and the Argentinian superstar, both of which had been ranked in the ATP top ten for a long time.
The match was a first-rounder played on day 2 of the Open, and it leaves many wondering if Nalbandian, who came out on top after a five-set marathon 3-6, 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 (7-1), 9-7 five-hour epic, will be worn out for the rest of the tournament because of the strain. Let us remember, you have to win seven matches to be a Grand Slam Champion, so if Nalbandian plans to do that he needs to load up on the Gatorade.
