Theo and Cubs agree

Theo Epstein has agreed to a deal with the Cubs. His deal with the Cubs is 5 years and almost $20 million, and since Epstein still has a year left on his Red Sox contract, the deal will hinge on the Red Sox and Cubs agreeing to compensation. If they agree, Theo will become the Cubs GM, and his 9 year tenure as GM of his hometown team, the Red Sox, will end. Neither the Red Sox nor the Cubs have commented or confirmed reports, but it is looking more and more likely Epstein will NOT be with the Red Sox for the 2012 season. His job with the Cubs will be more powerful than he would be with the Red Sox if he ends up in the Windy City. Epstein has been in Chicago to discuss deals twice, reports said. The compensation would involve prospects and/or cash, but no MLB players would be part of the deal.
